An answer to the skeptics!

Great News! I had my three month checkup with my internist today. I also finished my first month on GBG's 10-in-One vitamin and mineral supplement. No empty bottle money back for me. Just an empty bottle and a new one opened. My blood pressure today was 122/70. Probably the most perfect reading I've ever had. I also had my blood work done for my three month average blood sugar. My Dr. called this evening and said my blood work was great! As a side issue, today was the two month anniversary of my hip replacement surgery. Want to know what I did to celebrate? I picked up pine cones and raked the front yard. In truthfulness I did use my picker, since bending over is still prohibited, but I filled two large yard totes with pine cones and sticks, and assembled a planter seat for the yard, and oh did I mention, I took a couple of hours off and went fishing this afternoon. Didn't catch a thing and didn't care.
The point to all of this is that I'm completely sold on the GBG product. I'm not going to stop my BP meds, but the addition of 10-in-One has been the difference I'm sure. I never dremed that I would be walking around the yard two months post op either. My energy level is much greater than at anytime I can remember pre surgery. I would be exhausted after a day of doing nearly nothing and now I feel like I can put in a days effort and still have some energy left. 10-in-one is the only difference in my daily regimine. Honestly I haven't given up the cane yet, it gives me comfort on the uneven ground, but I'm convinced I can walk now without my cane on good level ground. My recovery has just been beyond what I had hoped for and the big change seemed to occur when I started 10-in One a month ago.
Now to the big question. WHY WOULD ANYONE NOT TRY GBG???? The worst that could happen is you might get healthy, yet I'm repeaedly given excuses why people just can't get involved. I've decided that I'm just going to continue to spread the word through my blog. What the heck, you may get healthy as well as wealthy, and we know that if that happens we will all have proven to have been wise. To find out more about this amazing opportunity go to www.shopgbg.com/rtubaugh. If you have specific questions you can email me at richard.tubaugh@gmail.com. Get healthy, and maybe wealthy, but please be wise and check it out. Until next time.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://cans-to-cash.blogspot.com/2009/04/gbg-answer-to-skeptics.html' title='GBG! Success Story! Personal experience with the product

Time to update! Hopefully I will be able to stay focused and keep you updated in a more timely fashion. As I mentioned in my last post I've become involved with a health industry company and have used some of the proceeds from my auction finds for start up capital for my new venture. I make it sound like there is some kind of big deal about start up when truthfully the startup is less than $20.
I've been using GBG's 10-in-One vitamin and mineral formula for going on a month now. I have to tell you that I'm unbelievably impressed. I've mentioned my health problems in my previous posts and I'm happy to report that I'm doing really well. I'm still only a little over six weeks out from the hip replacement surgery and I'm already walking with the use of a cane. I have my driving priviledges back and am enjoying my new found freedom.
Obviously I can't say that 10-in-One is responsible for my rapid recovery, but I can honestly tell you the following: Two weeks ago I was taking a nap every day at 11:00 AM for about an hour and another at 3:30 in the afternoon for about an hour and a half. I haven't had a nap in almost two weeks and my energy level has been amazing. I take 14 pills a day for treatment of high blood pressure, diabetes, atrial fibrilation, and also take tylenol for arthritis pain. I check my blood pressure and blood sugar once daily per Dr. instruction. Last night I checked both before bed and my BP was 122/77 and my blood sugar was 113. I was so close to normal that I had complained of light headedness. My body isn't accustomed to normal. As recently as last summer I was in the hospital with BP readings of 210/120. Granted I'm taking blood pressure meds now, but I was then. My Drs. here have adjusted them and things seem to be going well, but there has been a decided difference in BP reading just in the last two weeks. My average blood sugar has come down about 10 points as well. Another interesting side light is an obvious change in appetite. 10-in-one does have an appetite suppressant component. I've noticed a definite change and when I weighed in at my Dr. appoinment last week I had lost 10 pounds. I have to be honest and say I don't know how much of this is related to the surgery and natural recovery, and how much is related to 10-in-one, but I do know there has been a decided difference since I began taking 10-in-one.
The even more telling aspect of this story is the fact that my wife Brenda, who is the most skeptical person I know ( I often call her my "conscience"), has noticed the difference and has started taking 10-in-one as well. She has also joined me in the business venture, which I never dreamed she would do. She is the original proponent of "if it is too good to be true_____" you fill in the blanks.
Anyway I'm so pleased that I've gotten involved with GBG and look forward to building the business. I hope that you will want to take a look at the opportunity and go to my GBG website: www.shopgbg.com/rtubaugh . As I pointed out before, I was already taking a daily vitamin which I've discontinued, so I really have had no additional expense, and hope to profit from the experience. Can't beat that!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://cans-to-cash.blogspot.com/2009/03/gbg-success-story-personal-experience.html' title='GBG! Exciting opportunity. Good health and money to boot.

As I mentioned yesterday I have an announcement to make today. My $3 worth of cans has grown now to $201. I've been lucky so far but as an old mentor of mine used to say " luck is just preperation meeting opportunity". While I've been dealing with my health issues I've been doing a lot of research on health issues in general. I've begun to use vitamins and supplements and have started an exercise program. I've become a firm believer in the benefit of putting the right things in your body. I view my study of various vitamins and supplements as the preparation. Now it seems that opportunity has reared its wonderful head. A group of friends from Michigan are going great guns in a new money making opportunity and I've decided to join them. It basically involves the use and sale of various vitamins and supplements. As I said I've already begun using vitamins on a daily basis and feel certain that they have paid big dividends during my health issues. My recovery from surgery has been marvelous, and now to find the opportunity to get paid to use these same health aides has to be proof of the preparation meeting opportunity adage.

My total investment in the program is less than $150 and the opportunity to make money is limitless. Although I could have gotten into the program for under $20 I felt it was best to do it right and get a little more involved. I won't try to explain the program to you but I do have my own website with the company and it is very informative and I believe you will find a wonderful opportunity there. The company is GBG and my web address is: www.shopgbg.com/rtubaugh Go there and take a look and don't be afraid jump in. It is a remarkable opportunity and as safe an investment that I can think of. As usual I will try to keep you posted on the successes and failures of my journey to wealth. I will also be using the balance of the $201 to search out other treasures. So stay tuned!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://cans-to-cash.blogspot.com/2009/03/gbg-exciting-opportunity-good-health.html' title='GBG! Lets see! Stress test, heart cath, four teeth extractions, hip replacement surgery, and numerous visits to some of North Carolina's finest medical facilities, and personal contact with some of the finest medical professionals on earth. Now nothing but time on my hands until I'm back up and going. Hopefully I can get you caught up on a lot of things. As you know, the purpose of my blog is to take you along with me as I travel a journey from three bags full of aluminum pop cans to untold riches. If you've follwoed the blog I got all of $3 for the cans I had been saving for months. I took my $3 to an auction where I spent a dollar an early computer game from the 70's and $2 on a book entilled "The Mill on the Floss" by George Eliot. Vintage 1926. I later sold the computer game on Ebay for $25 and as you probably know I found a couple of interesting book marks in the book. They were advertising pieces from Shotwell Candy featuring Red Grange. I sent them to Leon Luckey to put in the Brockleman and Luckey Feb. collectibles auction. I'm happy to report that the two items sold for $176. Thats right my initial $3 worth of cans has now grown to $201. Not a bad start. Tomorrow I will be revealing my plans for investing the $201. Hopefully you will find it as exciting as I do and will want to participate with me as I attempt to grow the fund.

Suggestions anyone?

Well another week of frustration with "The Mill on the Floss and Manuscript". Still no takers on Ebay. I guess we'll pack it up and try again later or find a different venue for the sale. Any suggetions? After a week of travel and family for the Holiday it is back to the drawing board. I'll be checking out the auction circuit this week and see if there is anything promising for the $25.99 from the sale of the SNF Roger Staubach game. As mentioned last week, the surprise bookmarks featuring the 1926 Red Grange advertising pieces will be featured in the Brockelman & Luckey Auctions Feb. sale. The Monday Night Football Computerized Game auction ended very successfully. The final bid was $25.99. A real boost to the kitty. The book and manuscript did not sell so I have relisted it. As I mentioned on several occaisions last week, I think I listed it in the wrong category and this week have listed it in a more general category that may get more attention. I will be looking to invest my $25 windfall this week. I have a couple of ideas, but I will see where my journey takes me. I am in cold blustery Ohio this week, as opposed to just plain old cold North Carolina. I had to drive in snow this morning which I've learned over the years to detest. I'll take the cold sunshine of home anytime.

On a note of interest, I discovered that it is important that you do your home work when conducting an Ebay auction. When my wife went to the post office to mail the MNF game to the winning bidder in Tx., I discovered that it was an odd size for mailing. I had put a $5 price tag on the shipping, but discovered that because of the size it cost over $12 to mail. A valuable lesson to learn as I get back into the swing of things with Ebay. Next auction I will checking shipping first before posting a price. Fortunately I did well on the auction.

I will be posting a spread sheet next time, so you can "follow the money" as they say. I will try to keep it as up to date as possible. My dilemma now is to decide if I will invest the the $25 profit into one larger item or stick with the original strategy which was pretty much dictated to me by the meager sum I derived from the sale of my cans. It could be a lot of fun trying to decide which $2 items can be converted as easily and as profitably as my last purchase. I have a couple of days to decide since the next few days will be devoted to family matters and the Holiday. I will post as developments occur.

Ebay Auction About to End!

Good news! I will give you full details in tomorrow's post.
My other auction on the 1923 "Mill on the Floss" and the April 16, 1926 History IV homework assignment, has still seen no action. As mentioned yesterday if the book and manuscript doesn't sell I will be re listing it. More news on the two Red Grange 1926 Shotwell Candy promotional pieces. It was revealed to me on Leon Luckey's vintage football forum, that these pieces were distributed in candy bars manufactured by Shotwell in 1926. They are rare and it is estimated that each piece is worth between $100-$200. I have decided to accept Leon's offer to put these pieces in his Feb. vintage card auction. You can read the responses to Leon's post about the pieces on his forum by going to http://www.network54.com/Forum/579393/ and follow the posts. It will be exciting to see how the auction goes in Feb. I will keep you posted on this type of auction process as it unfolds.
I mentioned yesterday that I was planning go to an auction, but frankly it was 23* last evening which was a near record low here in the Carolinas. I decided to sit by the fire instead, but did manage to take in a couple of flea markets this morning and found a couple of interesting pieces, but decided to do some investigating and will go back later and see if they are still there and possibly make an offer. I think it is always important to have a feel for what you are bidding on. I felt good about both of my purchases last week although I did not have specifics, but for $1 and $2 I felt comfortable.
Tomorrow we head back to our former home in Ohio to visit with family for the holiday and take in a couple of business meetings. I will try to keep you posted on my journey. There are a couple of places up there that I like to visit, and can usually find good bargains. Well I see the Staubach game is up to $15.16 with a little over three hours to go. I will sign off and keep an eye my auction.

The Search Is On

Well the search is now on. As I mentioned in my last posting, in my project of converting my three dollars worth of aluminum cans in to unknown fortune, I came across a book from 1923. In the back of the book I discovered two advertising pieces from the 20's featuring Chicago Bears running back Red Grange. They are displayed here on the blog. I searched the internet and came across a website devoted to vintage sports memorabilia. I emailed the site's administrator, Mr Leon Luckey. He responded with a very nice email and indicated that he had submitted my request for information to the vintage football forum that he operates. He assures me that one of the members of his forum will have information on this unique find. If you would like to go to the forum to follow the progress in our search you can do so here:http://www.network54.com/Forum/579393/. You can also visit Leon's website at: http://luckeycards.com/. It will be interesting to see where our search takes us.

In other matters, the Roger Staubach Monday Night Football Computerized Game from 1972 is doing well on Ebay. The bidding is now up to $9.38 with two days to go. That auction can be viewed by going to the Ebay search box at the bottom of the page and typing in item #260316712048. It will be fun to see where that auction ends.

In my other auction, the 1923 Student Edition of George Eliot's "Mill on the Floss" and homework manuscript, there are no takers. As I mentioned previously, I think I may have listed it in the wrong category on Ebay. If there are no takers, I will definitely re list it. If you would like to view that auction, you can go to Ebay search box and type in item #260316984205. An interesting side note is that I notice that the Staubach piece has had over three times as many hits as has the 1923 Book. 38-11. Just a note for those who like to keep score.

Tonight is Fri night. Auction night for us. Several nice auctions on the list, but with Christmas rapidly approaching you can really get bogged down in the Christmas junk and not ever get to the nice little gems that I like to look for. Tomorrow I will let you know how things went. I will work under the assumption that the bidders on Ebay are good for the money and put $9 into the budget for this auction. I won't presume to be as lucky as last week, but we shall see. Check in tomorrow and see what kind of goodies may be available.

Football memorabilia?

When I started my project last week to turn my $3 worth of aluminum cans into cash by visiting auctions, Ebay, yard sales and flea markets I had no idea where the journey would take me and what I might find. I hoped to find something interesting that could be turned to cash. I had no idea that I would run across so many interesting pieces in such a short time. I was able to pickup a vintage Roger Staubach Monday Night Football Computerized Game which is now listed on Ebay and has a bid of $6.50. I also found a 1923 student edition of George Eliot's "Mill on the Floss". In the book I discovered a homework assignment by the young man the book was presented to, Clarence Jacobs. A home work Assignment for History IV class apparently mistakenly left in his literature book and never turned in to be graded. It was an interesting find that is also posted on Ebay. There are no bids and it may be because it is listed in the wrong category but we will see as the listing has another four days remaining. However, what I have not yet revealed is that there was something else found in the book.
Toward the back of the book I discovered what was probably being used as a book mark. Two small pieces of paper featuring the picture of Chicago Bears running back Red Grange. The backs of the pictures revealed that they were advertising promotional pieces for the Shotwell Candy Company. They were numbers 2 and 11 of a 12 piece collection of these pictures. The backs also indicated that an autographed 11x14 autographed picture of Red Grange suitable for framing could be acquired by sending 40 cents in stamps, or an album of the twelve pictures and the story of his famous football career could be acquired for 35 cents in stamps. I've done some research and have discovered that back in the 20's the Shotwell Candy Company was active in the early sports image efforts to promote their products. You can find the pictures posted on today's blog. They will not be listed on Ebay until I have further information about them. Having been a memorabilia collector over the years, I was a little amazed that I had not seen these pieces before. I will be contacting memorabilia collectors to find their value, but I have the feeling I may search for years and not stumble across a find like this. I will definitely keep you posted as things develop. I will close today by cautioning again to make sure when you are looking at books you look through the books not just at the cover. You really "can't tell a book by it's cover".

EBay success! Go on line auction action!

Its a good day. My auction for the Monday Night football Computerized game has drwn attention. It has two bids and is now at $6.50. I'm excited! Two bids means we have an auction. As I mentioned about the live auction, it only takes two people wanting the same thing to make an auction happen. Of course that doesn't necessarily apply to on line auctions. One bid and you could own it. Anyway I'm excited that someone is interested enought to at least bid. We have five more days to see where this takes us.
I'd like to go back a minute to yesterday's post. I posed the question. Who is Clarence Jacobs? I don't know if you are like me, but I find this kind of thing very interesting. As I mentioned his penmanship was a little suspect and it was difficult to read the name of his high school. But comparing the letters in the school name with definite words in the manuscript and then doing an Internet search of all the possible combinations, I've come up with the possibility that Clarence could have attended Forney High School in Forney Tx. The school is still in existance and I may make a call down there to see if it is possible that he could have been a student there back in the 1920's. It would be interesting to know more about him. So far no takers on the book and manuscript. That's OK I guess, because if it doesn't sell, it will give me more time to investigate further. Getting some history may make it even more valuable. I have one more clue to follow up, and it could change the whole dynamic of my search for Clarence Jacobs. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the key to success buying books is to look at the whole book not just the cover. Tomorrow I will reveal the other secret treasure that I discovered in " The Mill on the Floss" that may knock your socks off.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://cans-to-cash.blogspot.com/2008/11/ebay-success-go-on-line-auction-action.html' title='EBay success! Who is Clarence Jacobs and what did he do with his homework? As I've mentioned previously I was able to make two purchases within my original $3 budget. The first was the Roger Staubach MNF Computerized game. The second was far more interesting. Being an avid reader I've always been a fan of old books. Fortunately I've also been very curious. My wife and mother might say too curious for my own good, but that is a story for a different day. At the second auction I attended last Thurs. I came across a stash of old books. None that I could tell of any special value, but as I said my curiosity served me well in this case. In looking through the stack of books, and what I really mean is looking through the books in the stack. Yes that is the secret. Look through the book. I mean inside the books. People really haven't changed over the years, so you never know what you may find inside the book. I came across an interesting looking book. "The Mill on the Floss" by george Eliot. Having been an English teacher for many years it fascinated me. For those of you who don't know, George Eliot was the pen name for Mary Ann Evans. She used a male pen name, she said, to ensure that her works were taken seriously. Female authors published freely under their own names, but Eliot wanted to ensure that she was not seen as merely a writer of romances. An additional factor may have been a desire to shield her private life from public scrutiny and to prevent scandals attending her relationship with the married George Henry Lewes.
Anyway the book has an inscription on the inside cover that indicates it was presented to Lois and Clarence Jacobs in 1923. I'm assuming from the other discoveries that they were brother and sister. Since George Eliot died in Dec. of 1880 this is obviously not an original edition. As a matter of fact it is a student edition of the book that was obviously used in high school literature classes. The book is in OK condition. All of the pages are intact and does show some signs of aging that you would expect in an 85 year old book. With that said the book itself is not the thing of value in my mind. Inside the book I found a hand written homework assignment that Clarence Jacobs did for his History IV class on April 16, 1926. It was folded and placed in the latter pages of the book. It is quite legible and is a project entitled "Political or Home Rule". Proving that kids never change, it appears that Clarence never turned the project in. It is not marked or graded. Apparently Clarence forgot that he had left his history assignment in his English book. No the dog didn't eat it but, it has remained lost in the pages of "The Mill on the Floss" for the past 82 years. The corners are tattered, but the writing is quite legible. I have some difficulty reading Clarence's cursive handwriting, but it appears that he was a student at Tanney, Fanney or Favney High School. I will bring you up to date as I attempt to find out more about Clarence and Lois. In the mean time I am offering the book and the manuscript on Ebay. you can find the auction by going to my EBay search box at the bottom of this blog and type in: Item #260316984205 . You can also view pictures of these items here on the blog. In my next post I will reveal an even more interesting discovery in the pages of this book.

On to Ebay

Did I ever mention this was going to be easy? I had a terrible time getting my pictured ready to post on Ebay. I will have to do some more work today to see what I have to do to speed up the process. They uploaded in the wrong format and couldn't be accepted, so I had to reformat them and resubmit in order to have them posted in my auction. Then to my chagrin when I tried to post my blog I got a message that the post had timed out. The message indicated everything was slow because of extreme internet traffic and to hit the back button and then try again. Trust me, you can't imagine what I felt when I hit the back button only to discover that I had failed to hit the save button before I hit the publish button and my whole entry had vanished. To say the least, it was depression time again. I decided that "enough was enough" and to wait til morning to try again. So here goes!
As I left you at the end of my last post, I indicated that I had found two little treasures that fit into my $3 budget. The first was a Roger Staubach Monday Night Football Computerized Game. To bill this game as a computerized game is being very generous by today's standards. It is computerized gaming in it's infant and most primitive stage. My research indicates that the game was produced by Aurora in 1972. Obviously in 1972 computerized gaming was in it's developmental stage and this is one of the earlier attempts to use computer knowledge for entertainment. It uses a very basic concept of light passing under a perforated grid and depending on the settings the opposing players use, light will pass through the grid and stop play when the right combination of settings is passed over. The thing that comes to mind is the old punch out computerized voting machines. You all remember Florida's "hanging chad" infamy. These chads seem to be all properly in place. The box is in good condition and all of the pieces are intact and in good condition. there is even an instructional manual in the box. For a 35 year old game it is in great condition. The little light bulb does need to be replaced, but otherwise it is ready to go. When I saw it I was taken by it because at one time I was very active in the sports memorabilia hobby and had not seen one of these items, but I see there are two others posted on Ebay at this time. I think it will be a great piece for a Dallas Cowboy collector, a Roger Staubach collector, or an early gaming collector. It is in good enough shape it could even be a nice Christmas gift for the young Cowboy fan, although I'm sure it pails in comparison to todays games. It does however require a basic knowledge of football and would require some matching of football wits and looks like it could be fun. So maybe it would be a better gift for the "old" Cowboy fan who has almost everything. Whatever, it is listed on Ebay for a $5 starting price with no reserve. If you would like to view the auction go to http://www.ebay.com/ and search item #260316712048 or simply go to the bottom of this blog and enter the item # in the Ebay search box. Things seem so much easier after a good nights sleep. I have posted my pictures here for you to see. Don't hesitate to go to Ebay and place your bid to help this process along.
Today I will be posting the second item that I found. After it is posted on EbayI will be returning here to give you the background on this neat little find and tell you as Paul Harvey would say, "the rest of the story".

Oh what a day! Talk about down in the dumps to euphoria, today was the day. As I mentioned in my last entry I had been collecting aluminum soda cans for quite sometime. I finally decided to cash them in with the idea that I would take the proceeds and go off to the auction wars and see if I could turn the proceeds into a nice retirement income. Fun, exciting, did I mention discouraging. I took my three shopping bags full of cans. By my estimate somewhere near 500 cans. I had heard that aluminum prices were high and was anxious to get my cash and get started. What I had not taken into consideration was that aluminum weight is low!!!. To my chagrin my three bags full weighed in at less than ten pounds and the entire proceeds amounted to $3. I considered rushing home and deleting my blog but what the heck, nothing ventured nothing gained.
My plan was to visit three auctions. So after conducting some morning business I arrived in Salisbury NC. at 11:45 in a pouring rain only to discover that the auction was outside. Thats right 49* and pouring rain and a few hearty souls huddled under umbrellas waiting for the auctioneer to remove the tarps from the treasures piled in rows on the ground. By this time I'm really wondereing if my idea wasn't a pretty dumb one. With my three dollars burning a hole in my pocket I used good judgement and headed for the Golden Wok in Albemarle to plan my next move. After some delicious Chinese I decide to continue my quest so I set out for Oakboro and auction number two.
As I arrived at the auction house, yes this auction was inside, once again I was discouraged as there were only three cars in the lot and a sign leaning against the building that said " Auction Sun". Oh My! Tell me I hadn't just driven 60 miles and the auction isn't going to happen for another three days. I entered the building and was pleased to find lots of interesting things on the tables and yes there was going to be an auction today. You've heard the saying, "it only takes two to make an auction" well this auction was going to put the phrase to the test. As the auction began there were only 17 bidders present. Fortunately for the auctioneer there were three ladies present who all seemed to have the same tastes and the bidding between the three was brisk. The gavel banged down on lots of neat things, but none within my budget. Go figure! However, let me be quick to point out that if you go a little early, do your homework, you may still be able to pull off that little gem. As I said earlier, down in the dumps to euphoria. Well after a very disappointing, and depressing day things suddenly turned my way. Tune in next time to get the low down on the exciting finds that I came up with withing my $3 budget. I will also be posting some pictures and give you some information about how you can become a part of my wonderful adventure if you would like.

Cans-to-Cash one man's journey through nooks and crannies ,auctions and Ebay

Welcome to Cans-to-Cash. We’ve all heard the stories about “trash to cash”, and now I’m going to give it a try, and I thought it would be interesting to bring you along. The plan is simple. I’ve been accumulating a stash of soft drink cans and I’ve decided to cash them in today and attempt to turn whatever I get into a retirement income. This morning I’ll be delivering my three shopping bags of aluminum cans to my local recycling center, and then taking the proceeds to three auctions and see what kind of treasures I can accumulate. I will share with you the plan as it formulates daily. The basic plan is to try to find treasures at the auctions and turn them into more cash by offering them on Ebay or other sales venues. As each item sells, the proceeds will go toward acquiring more gems and antiquities and see if it is really possible to turn a bag of cans into real wealth. I’ll share the experience in both words and pictures. Come along and enjoy the fun. Check in and see how it goes.
